How do I embed Ask or Chat on a Chambermaster or GrowthZone website? +

Chambers using Chambermaster or GrowthZone can easily add Viva's AI Ask Bar and Chat Widget to their website. Here's how:

Option 1: Ask Bar (Search Widget)

The Ask Bar lets visitors search and ask questions about your member businesses. Add this code to your site:

The Chat Widget appears as a floating button in the corner of your site. Add this code before the closing </body> tag:

Replace YOUR_BUSINESS_ID with your chamber's Viva business ID (found in Settings > Widget Code).

Adding to Chambermaster

  1. Log into your Chambermaster admin panel
  2. Navigate to Website > Design > Custom Code (or Website > Pages for page-specific)
  3. For site-wide chat: Add the Chat Widget code to Footer Scripts or Before </body>
  4. For Ask Bar on a specific page: Edit the page and add an HTML/Code block, then paste the iframe code
  5. Save and preview your changes

Adding to GrowthZone

  1. Log into your GrowthZone admin dashboard
  2. Go to Setup > Website > Website Settings
  3. Click on Custom Code or Header/Footer Scripts
  4. For site-wide chat: Paste the Chat Widget code in the Footer Scripts section
  5. For Ask Bar on specific pages: Use the Content Editor to add an HTML block with the iframe code
  6. Click Save and refresh your site to see the widget

Troubleshooting

  • Widget not appearing? Check that the code is placed before </body> and your business ID is correct
  • Ask Bar too tall/short? Adjust the height value in the iframe style (default: 60px)

How do I set up a custom domain for my chat page? +

You can use your own domain (like chat.yourbusiness.com) instead of the default Viva URL. Here's how to set up a CNAME record with common DNS providers:

Cloudflare

  1. Log into your Cloudflare Dashboard
  2. Select your domain
  3. Go to DNS > Records
  4. Click "Add Record"
  5. Set Type: CNAME
  6. Set Name: chat (or your preferred subdomain)
  7. Set Target: ask.goviva.ai
  8. Set Proxy status: DNS only (gray cloud)
  9. Click "Save"

Important: The proxy must be disabled (DNS only) for SSL to work correctly.

GoDaddy

  1. Log into GoDaddy and go to "My Products"
  2. Find your domain and click "DNS"
  3. Click "Add" under Records
  4. Select Type: CNAME
  5. Enter Host: chat
  6. Enter Points to: ask.goviva.ai
  7. Set TTL: 1 Hour
  8. Click "Save"

Namecheap

  1. Log into Namecheap and go to "Domain List"
  2. Click "Manage" next to your domain
  3. Go to "Advanced DNS" tab
  4. Click "Add New Record"
  5. Select Type: CNAME Record
  6. Enter Host: chat
  7. Enter Value: ask.goviva.ai
  8. Set TTL: Automatic
  9. Click the checkmark to save

Google Domains

  1. Go to Google Domains (domains.google.com)
  2. Select your domain
  3. Go to DNS in the left menu
  4. Scroll to "Custom records"
  5. Click "Manage custom records"
  6. Add a new record with Type: CNAME
  7. Enter Host name: chat
  8. Enter Data: ask.goviva.ai
  9. Click "Save"

Other DNS Providers

  1. Log into your DNS provider's control panel
  2. Navigate to DNS management for your domain
  3. Add a new CNAME record
  4. Set the hostname/name to: chat
  5. Set the target/value to: ask.goviva.ai
  6. Save the record

Note: DNS changes may take up to 48 hours to propagate. If you need help, check your DNS provider's documentation or contact their support.

Once you've added the CNAME record, go to Settings > Offsite Chat > Custom URL in your Viva dashboard and submit your custom domain request. We'll verify it and activate it for you.

How do I access Viva as an app on my phone? +

Viva is a Progressive Web App (PWA), which means you can install it on your phone and use it like a native app—no app store required. Here's how to add Viva to your home screen:

On Android (Chrome)

  1. Open Chrome and go to business.goviva.ai
  2. Log into your Viva account
  3. Tap the three-dot menu (⋮) in the top-right corner
  4. Select "Add to Home screen" or "Install app"
  5. Tap "Add" to confirm
  6. Viva will now appear as an app icon on your home screen!

Tip: If you don't see "Add to Home screen," try scrolling down in the menu—it may also appear as "Install Viva".

On iPhone/iPad (Safari)

  1. Open Safari (this only works in Safari, not Chrome)
  2. Go to business.goviva.ai
  3. Log into your Viva account
  4. Tap the Share button (square with arrow pointing up) at the bottom of the screen
  5. Scroll down and tap "Add to Home Screen"
  6. Tap "Add" in the top-right corner
  7. Viva will now appear as an app icon on your home screen!

Important: On iOS, you must use Safari. The "Add to Home Screen" option is not available in Chrome or other browsers on iPhone/iPad.
